Vaidya Ramakant Mishra

Vaidya Rama Kant Mishra (1952-2017) world-renowned expert in Ayurveda, with  speciality in Dermatology, was an award-winning Ayurvedic physician, formulator, researcher and educator. He hailed from a from a long line of Ayurvedic healers whose history and origins are said to be recorded in the ancient book, the Bhavishya Purana. It is documented that a group of Ayurvedic healers from the island of Shaka came to visit India at the behest of Lord Krishna, to cure his son, Samba, of leprosy. These ayurvedic healers remained in India and their lineage flourished, practicing Saka Vansiya Ayurveda (aka SVA). The SVA tradition has continued uninterrupted, from generation to generation, over the past several thousand years, transmitting the knowledge over countless generations, despite foreign invasions and the vicissitudes of time.

Born to renowned ayurvedic healer, Vaidya Kameshwar Mishra, Vaidya Rama Kant Mishra’s whole life was immersed in practice, research and study of Ayurveda. After graduating from Bihar’s SYNA Ayurvedic College in 1974 and earning the title of GAMS (Graduate of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery), Vaidya Mishra’s education included an additional intensive seven-year training with his father. Thereafter  he established his own practice in 3 cities, and gave extensive TV interviews, and penned countless articles in local newspapers. At his father’s behest, he joined Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s endeavors to  bring Ayurveda  to the West. Thereupon, he toured several European countries, USA, and Japan throughout the nineties,  educating medical doctors, offering consultations, writing articles. He settled in the United States in 1996. After many years, he left  his position  as head of formulations and education at  MAPI in 2002, and   moved to Los Angeles, California, to establish the Prana Centre through  which  he continued his practice, offering consultations, workshops, courses, and conferences. Along with his wife, Dr. Melina Takvorian-Mishra, Vaidya Mishra established two companies, Chandi Co and Adishakti Inc. Chandi Co is the exclusive manufacturer of Vaidya Mishra’s Pranic formulations and Adishakti  Inc is home of the SVA ancestral knowledge offered via courses and  conferences to professionals and the general public. 

Vaidya Mishra’s profound knowledge and experience with the western physiology is grounded in many years of study and consultation with thousands of patients. He pioneered the approach of adapting the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda, without compromising its integrity, to the modern physiology and modern ailments  arising from contemporary cultural culinary and lifestyle trends. He has written new chapters for modern day Ayurvedic practitioners. As a result, his practitioners have highly successful SVA practices. Many  have authored books. For example,  see  Dr. Marianne  Teitelbaum and her book –  Healing the Thyroid with Ayurveda: Natural Treatments for Hashimoto’s, Hypothyroidism, and Hyperthyroidism (2019).

Vaidya Mishra authored  countless articles online and  in  print, and co-authored the book “The Answer to Cancer.” Was  the forward author of “Women’s best Medicine for Menopause through Maharishi Ayurveda” by Dr. Nancy Lonsdorf. His articles have appeared in several health magazines. His television appearances include: Live on ABC, New York; News on NBC and ABC, Total Health Talk, Los Angeles and Breakfast Television on CITY-TV Toronto, Canada.
